Join acupuncturist and Katonah Yoga Teacher Ari Halbert for an introduction to the Taoist practice of Qi Gong and acupressure massage based on the meridian system of Chinese Medicine.
Qi Gong exercises cultivate and distribute Energy/Qi throughout the body and are a powerful tool that have been used for thousands of years to promote health and longevity. The immediate effects are an invigorating burst of physical energy and extreme mental clarity, while the long term effects gradually boost the immune system and increase stamina and will power. Participants will be taught a specific set of exercises, first learning each one step-by-step, then practicing them linked together in succession, using the group energy to create palpable swell of energy.
The acupressure portion of the workshop will include a brief overview of the Chinese meridian system, while spending the majority of the time focusing on hands-on, practical applications of the theory. Students will work individually and with partners, learning to apply the healing massage techniques to both oneself and to others. No previous bodywork experience is required.
