Mission Possible: Exploring Advanced Asana
Focusing on smart and specific sequencing, this workshop will get you exploring the more advanced asanas with grace and confidence. You will see how accessible these shapes can be by looking at them though the lens of familiarity, and seeing they are merely composites of the more simple asanas that we encounter for frequently.

9am-12pm

Form, Flow & Function: Setting Up a Practice for Insight

Often what is familiar feels correct and we will repeat the same habits even when they serve us no longer. In this workshop we will look at the building blocks of asana from the lens of sacred geometry and origami, in order to take a step back from the personal and have real insights into what is working for us and what is not. Then we will apply what we learned in a vinyasa experience, exploring how form and flow work synergistically to give us a functional relationship with our bodies that will serve us long and serve us well.

2-5pm

Aligning Your Adjustments - Yoga Instructors Only

Gain clarity and confidence in your teaching with hands-on expert, Mary Dana Abbott. In this workshop we will explore the geometry and dimension of a variety of asanas to build a skill set that allows you to attune your adjustments to what exactly is needed by the student. Standing poses, twists and hip-openers will be the primary focus of this installment of the workshop.

Sunday, October 28

9am-12pm Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Katonah Yoga®

In this workshop we will explore asana and pattern in a way that gives us techniques and insights to use our time well in order to live a healthy, joyful and productive life. Get ready to let go of old patterns and habits that don't serve you or your practice anymore, and embrace new tools to up the function of your life both on and off the mat. This workshop is perfect for practitioners of all levels and styles, teachers and students.

Katonah Yoga® is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan over 40 years. She and her teachers incorporate classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being.Framing the practice, maps of time and personal space are defined and refined. Themes using asana as origami, manipulating form for function, and developing a sense of personal measure are incorporated in Katonah Yoga® practices.

Katonah Yoga® is organized around three principles of esoteric dialogue: all polarities are mediated by trinity; the universe has pattern, pattern belies intelligence; by virtue of repetition there is potential for insight.

Disciplined techniques are organized for revelation through revolutions.
