Join Brian Nygard for a 10-hour KATONAH YOGA® Training. Founded by Nevine Michaan, KATONAH YOGA® is a hatha practice refined over the past forty years, blending Taoist theory, sacred geometries, pranayama, and meditation.
You’ll learn and implement breathwork, asana, theory, body reading, and restorative practices. Together, we’ll use metaphors to consider your circumstance and uncover more function in your forms.
The universe has a rhythm, a bounce, a vibration of yin and yang. We know that “what goes up, must come down” and “as within, so without.” When you see a mountain, simply look around to find its valley. Having a round perspective reveals that nothing is broken or needs to be fixed. This training will guide you in repurposing, reorienting, and re-finding everything in its right place.
KATONAH YOGA® was founded by Nevine Michaan, and is a Hatha yoga practice refined over forty years, blended with Taoist theory, sacred geometries, pranayama, and meditation. For more information, visit www.katonahyoga.com
Brian Nygard is a Katonah Yoga teacher and Vipassana meditator. Equal parts poetic and pragmatic, Brian’s classes seamlessly weave Taoism, geometry, breath work, and humor. He empowers his students to not only recognize nature’s implicit pattern in the body, but also to use this structure as a map in order to make more enlightened choices.
With a formal education from the New England Conservatory of Music, and seasoned through years of study with his foremost mentors Nevine Michaan and Abbie Galvin, Brian’s teachings draw from a broad vocabulary of music, philosophy, and embodied work. His curiosity as a teacher stems from over 15 years of personal practice.
A senior faculty member at many of New York City’s most established yoga schools, Brian has trained and mentored hundreds of teachers over the last decade. He has been a guest teacher at the United Nations, and regularly headlines workshops, retreats, festivals, and teacher training programs, both in the U.S. and internationally. He lives in New York City.
