RENEWAL: A Weekend of Restorative Yoga with Alice York
RENEWAL: A Weekend of Restorative Yoga with Alice York
January 9th+10th
11:00am-1:30pm
All times EST
Start the new year feeling centered and in tune with your body, your mind, and your breath.
This 5-hour training is the meeting point between a training and a start-of-the-year staycation. It’s a unique combination and coming together of deep knowledge and deep rest—equally educational and nurturing. A restorative retreat in the comfort of your own living room.
Over 2 days, we’ll weave theory and practice together, braiding the threads of being, doing, and embodying.
We’ll explore the history of restorative yoga, the science and thought behind it, and put it all through a distinct Katonah Yoga lens. Best of all, the bulk of our time together will be experiencing the practice, organizing the body into prop-supported poses, grounding through meditation and down-regulating with breathwork.
These are techniques for teaching but also ways to take care of yourself, so this is equally beneficial as part of a professional toolkit or as much-need nervous system regulation for your own day-to-day life.
These are trying times, and the winter and holiday season brings its own baggage. Thankfully, restorative practices are especially suited to cold winter months – a time of rest and reflection, to slow down, to go in. Allow this training to be a means to move into the new year in a connected way, feeling renewed, feeling rejuvenated.
What to expect:
How to use props to scaffold the body and create a nourishing and soothing restorative yoga practice, whether at home using sofa cushions or in studio with blocks and bolsters
An examination of the neurological and physiological benefits of a restorative yoga practice
Not simply relaxing restoring and reforming the body
Lots of meditation, metaphor, and theory!
Creating and sequencing, both for a personal practice and to lead a group or private session
Pranayama! Using the breath as a powerful modulator and reliever of stress
How to support injury, pre- and post-natal bodies, and other considerations within the practice
Time for inquiry, to go inward, and capture insights and ideas
Open to everyone – all levels, all bodies, all familiarities with the practice.
5 hours bankable toward your Katonah Yoga® Certification.
Recordings available for 7 days
