Yoga for the Nervous System

$35.00

Saturday June 3rd

1p-3p EST

Our nervous system is our control system. It is the way in which we receive information on how to respond with action, emotion and thought. Everything we experience in our life is processed through our nervous system and is stored there as a somatic memory. These memories set the tone of our tissues, thereby effecting the structure, flow and functions of our body.

Join Kumi Sawyers for a two hour workshop that explores the effects of yoga on the nervous system, and how we can utilize the techniques of pranayama, meditation and asana as tools to regulate, rebalance , and rewire the system. We will begin with a discussion about how the nervous system works, focusing on the autonomic functions of the sympathetic and parasympathetic response and the role they both play in maintaining/disrupting homeostasis.

The discussion will be followed by an informed practice incorporating all the information we learned. This workshop is open to all levels of practice and experience. Come with questions, an open mind and an open heart!
